How to Reduce Credit Card Debt Quickly

Here is a plan to reduce credit card debt quickly. This is a no fluff way to get rid of your credit card debt. If implemented it will probably be painful, but you could get out of your debt as quickly as your finances and perseverance will allow.

We live in a have to have it now and cannot wait to save for it society. This gets so many of us into trouble, because the only way to have that thing now is to use your credit card for it. The debt comes very easily and quickly. Sometimes you just do not realize it has gotten out of control until it is too late. So if you are willing to change your ways and let a professional help, then you are ready to reduce your credit card debt quickly.

Step 1
Get serious and calculate all of your credit card debt. Is it over ten thousand? If it is then proceed to the next step.

Step 2
Find your Professional help. Call several credit counseling businesses. I would start with the non-profit ones, because, although they usually do get a piece of the debt that they negotiate down for you, they are still usually cheaper then the for profit ones.

Step 3
Pick a service to work with that you trust. Find out how they stand with the Better Business Bureau. Read all of the fine print to understand what you are agreeing to and how much it really will cost you.

Step 4
Let the credit counselor negotiate the best deal with your credit card companies. Unfortunately you may need to not pay your credit card bills for a little while so that the company thinks they have to negotiate to get paid. This will damage your credit, but if you really want to reduce credit card debt quickly then it will be worth it, and your credit will get better in time.

Step 5
Make a repayment plan and stick to it. Do not make any late payments or mass any. You might find that the payment plan is asking a lot of your monthly income. This is painful; but will get you to your goal much faster.

Step 6
Find a budgeting method and plan your spending down to the penny. Do not deviate from your plan. Go without anything that you do not have to have, just for the time that you are paying this debt back. You can call it a punishment or behavior modification if it helps.

Step 7
After the debt has been fully paid use your experience to make better decisions in the future. Cancel all credit cards if you have not already. Do not sign up for any more. Live cash on hand only and save for emergencies.

This is very simplistic, but is truly the best way to reduce credit card debt quickly
