Eliminate Credit Card Debt - Quick Steps To Help You Eliminate Credit Card Debt in Less Time

So you’re finally sick of the debt piling up? Great, you’re taking action and this is really what counts. Your proactive nature is what will get you out of debt. Unlike you, many choose to forget about their debt, and hope is somehow goes away. But the truth, of course, is that their debt won’t go anywhere until they take action. So I congratulate you for taking the bull by the horns, no matter how hard the struggle is.

The two main principals to eliminating credit card debt. The first is to control how much you spend. Here are some quick tips that will help you maximize this recommendation.

1) My mother always you used to tell me something that has stuck with me and stopped me from raking in a lot of debt. It is this: Don’t spend money that you don’t have. That’s right, the money from your credit card is not yours! Of course, you have already spent some money from your credit card already, but it is never too late to incorporate this principle into your everyday life. From now on, make sure any money you spend is yours i.e. from wages or savings. Basically, any money you don’t have to pay back.

Now of course, this is easier said than done. In this day and age, it seems impossible to live day to day without a credit card. Sometimes we need to make purchases over the phone or on the internet and in this case, a credit card is paramount. Tip: Load money from your checking account onto your credit card. This way, you still have the functionality of a credit card, but you can be at ease knowing you’re only spending money that will not have to be payed back.

2) Counteract your urge to spend and buy on impulse: The best way to do this, is to leave your credit card at home. Period. If you’re serious about eliminating credit card debt, this will help you control your spending habits, reducing the likelihood of increasing your debt. I bet you’re already thinking But I always carry my credit card just incase I see something I want! Well, to be frank with you, if it’s something you need, you will go back home, get your card and return to make the purchase.

Hassle? Of course it is, but ask yourself, is it really a hassle if you’re already waist deep in debt, and this is a technique that could help climb out of that hole? I can guarantee you that 9 times out of 10, on your way home, you will decide that you actually don’t need the item. Buying what you need versus buying what you want is the key.

The second, important component of this technique is to stay away from places where you know you’re likely to buy. Simple. Avoid places such as malls and expensive restaurants. It may not be what you’re used to, but every bit helps in eliminating credit card debt.
